Help Puerto Rico: Save Hospitals, schools and other vital public services before it is too late

Created by L.M. on April 27, 2016

The island of Puerto Rico is in a debt crisis. Vital public services that millions of American citizens depend on for their livelihoods are at stake: hospitals, schools, police, firefighters, water, and electricity. This is the United States. If we consider ourselves a first world country, we need to make sure ALL American citizens have the basic necessities they need to survive and stay safe. The elderly are at risk of losing their pensions, and over a million people are at risk of becoming homeless if Puerto Rico is forced to default. WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR A BAILOUT. Puerto Rico will pay its own bills-- it just needs time and flexibility in order for that to happen.
We ask you, Members of Congress, to mandate a restructuring of Puerto Rico's debt.
