In 2012, Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party was on every ballot in the country. Jill Stein of the Green Party was on 85% of the ballots. However, both candidates were barred from participating in the debates. Despite this, Johnson was able to pull 1% of the popular vote with Stein receiving half of that; some of the best showings for third party candidates in recent history.
With interest in third parties growing every election, we would like to see these parties respected. Candidates that are on the ballots in most of the states (especially in 100% of them) should be given the same debate access as Republicans and Democrats. People deserve to know all of their options when they go into that voting booth. President Obama, we ask you to help create an even playing field in this arena.
