help reduce healthcare costs by banning direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs.

Created by M.L. on January 30, 2014

In 2012 the pharmaceutical industry spent more than 3 Billion dollars on advertising prescription drugs to the consumer. I'm sure you've seen the TV ads "ask your doctor about...".

This practice is forbidden in virtually every other country, and creates unnecessary costs that are ultimately passed on to you and me, the consumer.

While pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists will argue that it helps inform the consumer, we all know that the underlying reason for this advertising is to make a profit. (Besides, a simple internet search will reveal a lot more information than a commercial).

Medicine selection should be solely between you and your doctor, not influenced by a 30 second commercial.
So, let's join the rest of the world and make this simple step to save $3 Billion+.
