Help require meal and rest periods at work in U.S. Currently there is no law that protects this human right to eat.

Created by M.L. on March 24, 2014

Require every U.S. business to allow at least a 30 minute unpaid lunch and two 15 minute rest periods per 8 hour shift. Currently most businesses abide by this and have instituted meal and rest periods for their employees. It is not currently required and some businesses take advantage of this. You can be required to work full time shifts and in many states overtime and not be allowed your basic human right to eat. It is negative for your health to go long periods without food and is unsafe in many ways. The FLSA does not cover this and many states still do not enforce any type of break or meal requirements. In the United declaration of human rights (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, etc...
