We believe that the continued use of the name "Sandy" in the naming of hurricanes will sadly once again bring grief to those Americans who have been so affected by Hurricane Sandy, as well as those families devastated by the brutal attack at Sandy Hook Elementary just a short time later in December of the same year.
We also Ask that a more formal and public ceremony be undertaken in the retirement of this name than is customary, and that a degree of added levity be given to this national moment of remembrance to further honor those that were lost in mot only these two tragedies, but also those that we lost in Aurora as well. We have to remind ourselves that only by supporting those next to us, can we stand together and make our way forward from here.
