Many people are unaware that gay men are not allowed to donate blood, organs or tissues in Canada and the United States. The intent of the guidelines is to prevent communicable disease from being transmitted from a potential donor to potential organ, tissue or blood recipient.
This ban is aimed at promiscuous gay men, but completely side swipes gay men that have been in monogamous relationships for many years. It doesn't even begin to address heterosexual promiscuity.
There is a blood, tissue and organ shortage in North America, every person that can donate should be able to regardless of their sexuality.
Blood donation laws should not reflect stereotypes and should not be based on outdated science and propaganda.
