Machel Montano is an international Soca icon. That said, you may not have ever heard of him. He is a soca singer from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago.
He was recently found guilty on charges of assault from an incident which occurred about 5 years ago. He now faces the prospect of jail time- Or maybe just a fine and community service. who can be sure of these things in Trinidad.
Machel cant go to jail- He is a star...and as Trinidad and Tobago wants to be serious about developing its creative industries, we cant be seen as a place that lets our stars go to jail for crimes.
