Help Stop Domestic Violence and Support Domestic Violence Awareness

The members of the Upsilon Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. want you to join the fight against domestic violence. Every 9 seconds a woman in the US is assaulted or beaten. Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex, or suffered some other type of abuse during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is an aquaintance or loved one. Studies show that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually, 1 in 5 teenage girls have been threatened with violence by a boyfriend, and every day more than 3 women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Sign our petition and alert your US representatives of this issue and the urgency to provide more victim resources and harsher offender penalties.
