Help teenagers with mental health disorders get help by encouraging universal screening for disorders in high schools.

Created by C.C. on December 12, 2014

Universal screening for mental health disorders should be implemented in schools. The screenings are short surveys where you rank the accuracy of a statement for yourself, indicating possible disorders. Around 1 in 5 adolescents have a diagnosable mental health disorder, and even more, up to 30% have a major depressive episode by the time they reach adult hood. Despite how common they are, 70% of teens don't receive the help they need to cope with what they're going through. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for adolescents. We lose about 4,600 teenagers to suicide each year, thousands more are suicidal, and hundreds of thousands more are suffering in silence. 90% of suicide attempts go unnoticed by parents. It could be your child, your student, your sibling, your best friend.
