Help Texans Succeed. Even as hospital corporations, nursing organizations, the AARP, the AMA and many other groups urge intransigent governors such as Perry of Texas, Scott of Florida, Jindahl of Louisiana, to behave in a Christian fashion, Bryant of Mississippi, Haley of South Carolina and other poor Southern states clamber aboard the hypocrite train ignoring the health care of their indigent or unemployed, even if the federal government is picking up most of the tab to extend Medicaid coverage to the nation's poorest citizens. What could these coal-hearted Governors be afraid of? This is a productivity issue, a human rights issue, a Christian issue, and a matter of good public policy and kindheartedness. Why deny healthcare coverage to those 25 to 33 % of Texas citizens who are at risk?
