We would like to humbly request the honorable Senators and Representatives of the United States to introduce and support legislation to unite legal immigrants with their spouses and children.
Under current law, a Green Card holder is allowed to apply for an immigrant visa on behalf of his/her foreign resident spouse and unmarried minor children. However, the it takes up to 5 years to complete this process, during which time the beneficiaries are forced to live outside the U.S. While waiting, spouses and children are not allowed to enter the U.S., even for a brief visit.The Green Card holder, on the other hand, must reside predominantly in the U.S or risk violating the law! We request you to create a mechanism under which spouses and children of legal immigrants can live in the U.S united.
