I, Donna Reid Brown, cordially ask President Obama to consider the enactment of a Federal Tax Credit or Schedule of Deductions to help unpaid family caregivers reduce out-of-pocket expenses related to caring for the non-dependent elderly.
Unpaid caregivers of the non-dependent elderly are millions-strong. We are daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, spouses and partners - and we help provide both essential and supplementary care for our elderly parents, spouses, partners, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, extended family, friends and neighbors.
We do it for many, many different reasons, but underneath it all what we want most is to help take care of our elders.
