Geeks are the architects of innovation, brain trust, the doers, and the passionate creators behind everything that makes our lives better.
The goal of this petition is to inspire recognition of these faceless heroes of everyday life and the nameless engines of all aspects of progress, as the vast majority of our modern world would not exist without some geek, or team of geeks.
We chose May because:
May 4th is "Star Wars Day," Mother's day )all geeks have one), the 25th is "Towel Day," and the last Monday is Memorial day (honoring military geeks).
In closing, since the forging of the first tool, humanity has benefitted exponentially from those we call geeks. Isn't it time we gave them the satisfaction of knowing that, for 1.9% of the year, their efforts will not go unnoticed.
