The secession petitions that were started were started by individuals of their state and aren't representative of all of the people residing in those states.
While half the nation was upset at President Obama's re-election, that isn't a valid enough reason for any state to secede from the union and for half of the people of this fine nation to disassociate itself from the other half by forming a new nation.
Whatever our political differences, we're Americans first and foremost. The time has come for everyone to put aside their political differences and to focus on similarities so that we can start moving forward as a nation. We have more pressing matters ahead than to deal with the silly idea that states should secede.
