Why is auto insurance rates for men higher? The insurance companies say say males are a bigger risk so they charge us what I call penalty rates. In this country we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. The fact that I'm being discriminated against and prejudged to be a law breaker just screams profiling. Like preconceived stereotypical notions about people of color. In recent years we have made, for instance, women more equal to men with regard to opportunities in work and military areas. If we are truly trying to make everyone equal without regard to sex, color, etc., then this outdated practice needs to go. After all, everyone who drives, male or female, young or old, take the same chances as anyone else of being involved in an accident or getting a ticket behind the wheel.
