Most people who drive Hummers and large off-road type vehicles do not use them to go off-road or to get over rough terrain. They are merely status symbols of their financial standing. Older vehicles such as Lincoln Town cars and Cadillacs, and older vehicles, etc. should also be on the list of fuel wasting vehicles. This country needs less bragging and show-boating and more environmental responsibility. Anyone who insists on driving gas guzzlers should be made to pay higher taxes. In the same respect, the government should make it very affordable to purchase energy efficient vehicles, offering possibly an enticing tax deduction for purchasing such vehicles. Getting from point A to point B can be done much more economically and environmentally friendlier.
