Hire returning Veterans to teach children self defense to combat bullying, childhood obesity and Veteran unemployment

Created by W.H. on September 12, 2013

The problems of bullying, childhood obesity & the lack of jobs for returning Veterans have all been problems that have captured the national attention in recent years. A way to partially address all three issues would be to have the President direct the Department of Education to authorize and advocate the public schools around the country to hire Veterans who are certified to instruct either Army Combatives or Marine Corps Martial Arts (MCMAP) to instruct students in (nonlethal) ways to defend themselves and others.
It is well known that knowledge of self defense methods gives the student a level of confidence that helps in other aspects of life. This would also help keep children & teens active in a way that would be useful in daily life should they find themselves a victim of attack.
