hire a team of programmers to bridge the software gap causing Veterans to go without benefits

Created by B.T. on May 17, 2013

There are now roughly 900,000 vetrans waiting for benefits. 600,000 of these have backlogged claims. This is due to the fact that claims forms have to be filed on paper. The reason for this is that the Department of Defense uses ALTHA to keep track of injured soldiers. While the VA uses VistA. The softwares do not offer any way to transfer data between each other, and will not. A team of computer programmers could create a program to serve as a bridge, that would take data from ALTHA and put it into VistA, thus sparing the veterans from having to fill out paperwork that goes into a massive pile God knows where in order to get there benefits. This bridge can be maintained as a long term solution, or be replaced with something more elegant. The need now is too great not to act.
