The public deserves better than news syndicates pushing their reporting out to the masses before verifying their facts. This has happened too often in the media. False reports during Hurricane Sandy, the Casey Anthony Trial, the Sandy Hook Shootings have got to stop. News channels are using their ability to push reports out quickly in order for their own financial gain and not doing so in the best interests of the public.
Reporting false information can and has led to panic and too often has led to the harassment of citizens on social media and in person. News syndicates need to be held responsible for false reporting and be forced to admit publicly when rescinding reports that were found out to be false.
