Hold the age of eligibility for Medicare at 65 and resist all efforts to increase it.

Members of Congress and others are encouraging the President to support legislation that would gradually raise the eligibility age for Medicare from 65 to 67 or older. This is discriminatory against workers who labor physically for their work. Under current Medicare laws an individual can apply for and receive Medicare at age 65, even though he or she will not be eligible for Social Security until 66 or 67. Many are unable continue to work as their bodies age. They lose their health coverage with their job. The increase in eligibility age will harm our most vulnerable work force. As a society we function because there are those willing to do physical labor necessary for the benefit of us all. We must recognize and protect their physical sacrifice by protecting their health coverage.
