Currently, many officials with a significant amount of federal power are not elected officials but rather are appointed. These include but are not limited to DEA leadership, FDA leadership, the board of the Federal Reserve (elected as governors but appointed to the board), and leaders of the intelligence community (CIA, NSA, et al). Not included in this petition are offices established by the Constitution such as the federal appointment of judges. We the people should have a say in all areas of our government and offices such as these bypass accountability, overrule the rights of state governments, and are too far removed from the will of the American people. We ask that these departments be led by elected officials not appointees.
