Each year, states contribute money to the federal system through taxation. And each year, states are allocated money from the federal system. Some states pay in much more than they receive back. Some receive much more than they pay in.
Many in our country do not understand that this redistribution of wealth is one of the cornerstones of our civilization.
I suggest that the president hold an annual press conference solely to detail exactly what each state puts in and what each state takes out of the system. This would help our citizens better understand how we all benefit from pooling our collective resources for the good of everyone.
