There is currently a proposal that supposedly helps home owners with mortgages that are underwater but, in fact, contains a provision that absolves the banks of financial responsibility for any fraud they may have committed in giving those mortgages, undercutting New York Attorney General Schneiderman's efforts to hold criminals accountable for their actions. If no criminal acts were committed, this proposal is not necessary. If criminal acts were committed, giving the perpetrators undeserved amnesty will undermine every principle of justice and equality under the law for which this country is supposed to stand.
Grant no amnesty, give no more bailouts, and hold everyone, corporations and individuals, no matter how rich or powerful, accountable for their actions.
