We deserve better than a Congress that operates with a perpetual and universally-accepted conflict of interest. We voted these individuals into to office to serve the people, not corporate lobbyists and special interest groups.
When people throughout this country clamor for "change", they aren't strictly talking about the money in their pockets. What we want and need is meaningful reform of the way Washington conducts its business. A systemic change to a paradigm that has for too long allowed for the transparent bribery of federal legislators.
The signatories of this petition ask the President to encourage bipartisan legislation that bans members of Congress from accepting a cent more than is allotted in their government-issued paycheck while in office, violations of which are criminal.
