There are 535 members of congress earning at least $174,000 per year. If the average congress person works 200 days per year, that equates to $870 per individual per day, or $465,450 per day for congress. Rather than spend nearly a half-million dollars per day of taxpayer money for unearned salaries, use the money to fund current shortfalls in the budget. All Americans are held accountable for the job we do and if we do not perform or show up, we do not get paid. Essentially, congressmen and women are drawing a government pay check even though they are ineffective. What happens to the typical person if they fail to get the results they are being paid for? Why should members of congress be any different?
