Hold a constitutional convention, whereby the present presidential system is replaced with a parliamentary one.

Created by R.O. on December 09, 2012

The current constitution of the United States is moribund. America is one of the few countries not to have revised its constitution in the past century. It is now strangling our country to death. The current constitution promotes gridlock, concentrates too much power in the hands of the executive, entrenches a two-party system, and is vulnerable to populism. It is intentionally vague in many areas, harming its relevance in modernity. Thomas Jefferson stated the constitution needed to be replaced each generation. Let’s follow through, and replace our present system with a parliamentary system, based on the Westminster model. Take legislative power away from one person, and put it into the hands of the legislature. Let’s break out of the polarization our constitution creates. Let’s change.
