Hold court officials accountable for inadequate sentencing of DUI convicted persons resulting in vehicular deaths.

On average, 1 person in the US dies every 51 minutes in motor vehicle crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver. Drivers with a BAC of 0.08% or higher, involved in fatal crashes, are 7 times more likely to have a prior conviction for DWI than drivers with no alcohol in their system. Many alcohol/drug related crashes and death can be avoided. There are effective measures to help prevent injuries/deaths from impaired driving. Sentencing for DUI/DWI cannot be base one's ability to hire an expensive lawyer or pay a settlement. First time offenders must be aggressively sentenced to emphasize the severity of their crimes. Court officials who do not adequately sentence these criminals should have their own repercussions in order to reinforce the importance of preventing future DUI/DWI.
