Clean, safe drinking water is a right. Duke Energy’s failure to operate its facilities in a responsible, safe manner put North Carolinians and the Dan River at risk. It’s time for CEO Lynn Good to clean up the company’s coal ash across the state and make a serious commitment to local clean energy solutions that can power North Carolina homes and businesses without threatening our right to clean water.
The leaders of Duke Energy have known for years that these toxins are dangerous and would, eventually, spill into the drinking water supply of NC communities. Instead of working to protect North Carolina families, Duke Energy worked against regulation. Duke Energy has lost their bet at Dan River and now is determined to shift financial responsibility to the ratepayers.
