On August 5, 2015 staff from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) along with personnel from Environmental Restoration LLC, caused the release of toxic waste water into Colorado's beautiful Animas River. Three million gallons of mine waste water and other contaminants including heavy metals such as cadmium and lead, as well as other toxic elements, such as arsenic spilled into Cement Creek, a tributary of the Animas River in Colorado. This has caused serious ongoing environmental impact. To date, NOBODY has been held accountable. In fact, the EPA is asking for additional federal funding to clean up their own mess! When will we hold the government accountable? This petition seeks the criminal and civil prosecution of those individuals responsible for the contamination.
