Dear President Obama,
I am a former foster care, as well as adopted, child. I am creating this petition to urge you to act on behalf of those that are still in the system. There is a severe flaw at play, and it is hurting the approximately 250,000 kids that enter into foster care in the United States each year.
More recently there have been more reported cases of injuries and deaths of children who are in the care of foster parents.
Headlines such as:
"Toddler believed to have been abused while in foster care dies"
"Broken Arrow woman arrested as suspect in death of toddler foster child"
Foster care and adoption is a historically underfunded system. Case workers are over-staffed, and cannot complete checkups as often as they are needed. Please help change this.
