Consider bees dying at an alarming rate, and this past winter marked the worst losses by far. Beekeepers reported as many as 50% of their bees disappeared or died.
Europe placed a two-year ban on the neonicotinoid class of pesticides, including clothianidin and thiamethoxam. Many scientists see these chemicals as the major factor in bee colony collapses.
Remarkably, the bees appear to have identified the threat of pesticides by physically sealing off hive cells full of pollen that contain far higher pesticide levels than neighboring cells. This helps, but not enough.
America must have bees to grow food crops!
We ask that you direct the EPA to place a temporary ban on these types of pesticides and commission independent, regional studies to be done.
