The sad fact is an old fact. The U.S. has an obligation, based on a 1787 agreement between tribes and the government, to provide American Indians with free health care on reservations. But that promise has not been kept. About one-third more is spent per capita on health care for felons in federal prison, according to data from the health service.
Native American children have a death rate 40% higher than white children due to not receiving adequate health care on reservations. ALL children should be treated equally.
How can the government deny our first people free health care, yet medicate and take care of convicted felons in the prison system. Time to right a wrong!
