honor the agreement the United States made and signed in 2002 to make concrete efforts to end world hunger

In 2002, at the Monterrey Conference (and again at the Johannesburg Summit), 22 of the world's wealthiest nations, including the United States, signed an agreement to work towards dedicating .7% (less than one percent) of their national income in fighting world hunger. It was calculated that if all nations honored their agreement, world hunger could be completely eliminated, preventing 25,000 preventable deaths daily. Five countries have kept that promise, and eleven others have set up a schedule to do so. The United States is only one of six that has done neither. We, the people, respectfully request that the US not only keep its promise, but encourage the remaining five nations to do the same. The US has the capability, and the expectation, to lead the way in ending this global crisis.
