Captain Trimble was my father. I seek a posthumous medal of honor in recognition of his work in WWII. He saved hundreds of American POWs in Poland in early 1945, plus additional hundreds of European civilians.
After piloting a 35-mission bombing tour while stationed in England, he volunteered for a mission in Poltava, Ukraine that led to the rescues. The mission was coordinated with the Office of Strategic Services, and was secret. He eventually rose to commanding level at that base.
He told me all in his 86th year of life. He passed in 2009. I followed up with 6 years of research at the National Archives, Air Force Historical Research Agency, French and British Archives. I have corroborating evidence of the rescues. The French awarded him the Croix de Guerre. The US has yet to honor.
