For many decades, the Japanese government has denied responsibilities during the WW2 when they systematically enslaved Chinese, Korean, Filippino girls and women to provide sexual services for their military. There is a lot of controversy about this issue.
In this context, there are attempts by persons interested in eradicating this historical fact. They want to remove the newly placed statues commemorating the "Comfort Women," currently located in Glendale, California and in Palisades, New Jersey, with more planned. They claim that the statues and accompanying plaques, are offensive.
We must allow these statues to remain where they are, to serve as reminders that this must never happen again.
