To extend the Federal recognition to the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana. These people were deemed to be a tribe and signed a treaty with the US Government that has never been honored.
In 1978, the Tribe submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs a petition for Federal recognition, which is still pending as of the date. The government has proven that they are unwilling to honor the commitments they made to these people.
Beginning on the date of enactment of this Act, the Tribe and each member shall be eligible for all services and benefits provided by the United States to Indians and federally recognized Indian tribes. Additionally land should be granted in order to create a proper reservation to be created. This is a follow up to S. 546 which wasnt given consideration.
