From the Acadians, to the Québécois, and the Huguenots, the French have been a part of this great nation since its earliest days. We have fought in every war and helped settle every part of America. There was a Frenchman guiding Lewis and Clark, it was Frenchmen who founded a number of significant American cities (Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, Galveston, Mobile, Boise.. and a host of others), seven states were named by the French (Louisiana, Arkansas, Illinois, Vermont, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon)... It was the French who helped America gain its freedom during the Revolutionary War. French volunteers served in the Continental Army. French money kept the American government afloat during the war. About 11.8 million Americans are of French descent. Let's finally honor French Americans!
