George Takei is a well known activist for human rights and equality in the United States. Drawing from personal experiences he has not allowed himself to be deterred. Fighting for his acceptance as an American of Japanese descent, and as a gay man, to over come such diversity to become a cultural icon in both film and stage. He has used his notoriety to bring to light the struggles of Americans with diversities, continuing to strive for the ideal America. George Takei embodies the American spirit and should be honored by the President for his achievements.
