Ten years ago, today, the United States lost seven astronauts. These brave souls perished, not in the pursuit of an arbitrary victory in a conflict insignificant in the events of human history, but in the pursuit of peace, and science, in order to better understand the world and universe we live in. Since then, the manned space program in the US has been effectively ended. All manned launches to the ISS are now done by either private contractors or the Russian Federation. This disaster, though terrible, cannot be allowed to stifle our resolve. To explore, to understand, to pursue that which is unknown. So let it be known, this day, that we shall continue to pursue our goals. To reach out to the stars, and, perhaps, to discover.
