Medgar Wiley Evers dedicated his life to the fight for freedom, justice and equality for all people. Mr. Evers fought for equity in economic issues, access to higher education, voting rights and justice for injustices as a result of a segregated society. He was killed and paid the highest cost for access and opportunity, rights that our country boasts are free. This petition is for people to stand united and say that the Presidential Medal of Freedom also belongs to a man who died fighting for Freedom. If Mr. Evers receives this medal, it could restore hundreds of thousands of children and adults' faith in the fact that when you work hard, stand for what you believe and make sacrifices for what is right, in America, you will not go unnoticed!
