Even Osama Bin Laden was given respect in his death through a quick sea burial. No one, even our enemies, deserves to be mistreated in their death. That being said, this petition asks the White House to consider creating legislation that makes picketing funerals illegal.
Funerals are not political events...rather they are ceremonies to honor the dead. Even horrible people deserve time for their loved ones to honor their death.
Most logical people would consider picketing a funeral of any sort to be a hate crime...and while free speech is an important liberty offered to all Americans, the freedom to be laid to rest in peace should also be a liberty available to all.
