Honor the memory of journalist James Foley by awarding him a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Created by J.G. on August 21, 2014

James Foley was murdered by ISIL this week after being held captive. Our military attempted to rescue him but was unsuccessful. This man, who died in the pursuit of the truth to expose to the world, should be regarded as a hero and inspiration to future generations of journalists who wish to pursue a mission of using the pen to bring awareness to the suffering and oppressed. We ask President Obama to use his Executive Authority to grant a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest award the President of the United States can grant to a civilian, to a journalism who not only honored his profession, but understood what it meant to American - being willing to help those in need and, ultimately, give his life in the pursuit of his passion.
