On June 20, 1969, United States' astronauts became the first humans to set foot on the moon. While it was Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins who were the astronauts on Apollo 11, they all acknowledge this, one of humanity's greatest achievements, couldn't have happened without the help of many others. The moon landing was accomplished thanks to the daring, imagination, determination and hard work of the American people. They, in turn, were aided by the work and scientific breakthroughs of people from around the world. It was in every way a "giant step for mankind."
This triumph should be commemorated and celebrated every year. A national holiday would give people time to remember and reflect on great accomplishment.
