The manufacture, sale, proliferation and current circulation of roughly 5 million AR-15's and similarly styled auto and semi-automatic rifles across the U.S. poses a National Security threat. These devices that are designed to kill are being used precisely for their purpose, from Oregon to Orlando, in ever increasing proportionality, putting the American people at physical risk and society itself at risk of moral and psychological collapse. We petition the Federal Govt to act immediately under purview of the Department of Homeland Security to 1.) confiscate all existing assault weapons, 2.) destroy their potential to inflict harm by reducing their metal components to a liquid alloy, and 3.) using metal castings, construct a Memorial honoring the Orlando 50 and the LGBT community.
