Recognition of our Cold War Veterans (those serving between Sep 2, 1945 and Dec 26, 1991) is long overdue. These veterans served in far off locations, often under difficult conditions, protecting us from Communist invasion. Although called the Cold War, combat did take place in a number of locations, most notably along the Korean border (between 1954 and 1980s) and a number of reconnaissance aircraft were shot down resulting in many killed or wounded. 123 servicemen still remain missing-in-action (MIA). Cold War operations, reconnaissance and deployments took place throughout the world over 45 years to counter moves by the communist powers to achieve military and political objectives, and to prevent military operations against the west. It is time to honor those who won the Cold War.
