Honor our fighting men and women instead of the political class. Rename CVN-78/79 to Lexington and Saratoga.

Created by B.R. on December 14, 2015

Politicians have schools, highways, money, and pretty much everything else named after them. More troubling is that they have hijacked our aircraft carriers to honor themselves instead of the men and women who actually fought and died for this nation. The last carrier not named after a politician was the USS America in 1965. We need to stop this trend once and for all.

I propose we rename CVN-78 to USS Lexington and CVN-79 USS Saratoga to honor the sailors and Marines who served and fought for our country aboard previous Lexingtons CV-2 and CV-16 and previous Saratogas CV-3 and CV-60. The line would continue with CVN-81 and beyond with similar historic names like Yorktown, Ranger, Hornet, Midway and so on. Please do the right thing and honor our veterans instead of more politicians.
