The Federal government has a duty and responsibility to recognize Marriage as a religious term defined by God as a unity of one man and one woman for life. Marriage and family have traditionally followed the Biblical example, and have been the most basic, foundational building block of any society. To disregard this precept, or allow states to haphazardly adopt differing statutes in this regard, would lead to the breakdown of the family unit and the destruction of the foundation of our Republic.
