Refusal to join other evolved nations in explicit support of international covenants and conventions upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights seriously undermines any actions we may take or support against other violators. Additionally, this type of isolationism negates the impact of U.S. foreign aid and reinforces the global view of U.S. self-involvement, possibly making us more of a target in the eyes of those who seek to do us harm.
We have the potential to do greater good than any other country on Earth. We should try leading by example more than by force.
