Honor the USS LIBERTY

Created by E.F. on April 17, 2016

The USS LIBERTY is the most decorated ship in the US Navy for a single action

The USS LIBERTY crew was awarded a Medal of Honor, two Navy Crosses, 11 Silver Stars and more than 200 Purple Hearts, a Presidential Unit Citation and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Israel’s June 8 1967 attack on the lightly armed USS LIBERTY remains the worst attack on any American Navy ship since World War II, and to this day most Americans do not know about the USS LIBERTY and how that event changed American foreighn policy.

Admiral Moorer, General Raymond Davis, Rear Admiral Staring, Ambassador James Akins and other high ranking US officials have called for every June 8th to be known as “USS LIBERTY Remembrance Day, in order to commemorate the Liberty’s heroic crew”.
