It's nice to say to a veteran "Thank you for your service", but what would really help show appreciation is to honor veterans by saying their sacrifice entitles them to not have to pay Federal taxes for the rest of their life. Those that have served are a small percentage of our population and wouldn't be too horrible of a loss for the government, but letting them keep that little bit of extra money can mean the difference between being able to afford necessities or can make their life a little bit better. Show them your thanks aren't just empty words.
